I was able to locate a copy of TextAlud with the AT&t voices. Way much better than MS TTS.

There are many TTS Voices better than the  MS-TTS-Voice, but the most not free  ;)

I would really love to make my own TTS voices...

I would yell and sound really angry while recording all the samples.

I would make another where I do an impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger doing a falsetto sexy chick voice.  Endless fun!

Some of the Cepstral voices are quite affordable and some of them seem decent (if not extraordinary): https://www.cepstral.com/en/demos

languages: English UK, English US, Canadian French, Americas Spanish, Italian, German

Prices in the $35 to $45 range.
