Let the fun begin!  ;D

some one was ready and waiting...

btw I already found a small bug since you downloaded it, and have uploaded a replacement.  The left save button was saving everything when it was only supposed to save the tree on the left...

Hi James,

I would like to write a German manual for VC, and found the wikipage for VC no longer work properly?

Hi Wanilton,

make a backup from you old version of VC. Copy all files from the old version (but not voicecommand.xml and voxcommando.exe) in the new directory of VC 0.84, go to edit tree and click save in the upper left Window, then import the voicecommand.xml from your old version, thats all. See my picture

Greetings Kalle

PS: Sorry i can't upload pictures, i don't know why.

James,

the new version of VC is fantastic, you have many new commands inserted. I tested the new MM-command MM.GetVolume and ist works perfect.
In prefixmode, i can't see my commands in VC, but the commands works fine.

Wanilton: thanks for the report.  I think I know what is causing this error and I will try to fix it right away.

Kalle: I'm glad you like.  I'm not sure what you mean about the prefix, but I'll play with it and see if I can figure out what you mean.

ok I posted a fix.  You just need to update the .exe file

James,

wen i said monkey as prefix an tell VC a command, it works fine, but i can't see in the VC-window that trigger command

Wanilton:

1. extract the 084.zip in a new folder (e.g. VC084)

2. copy all files (but not the voicecommand.xml and voxcommando.exe) in this folder.

3. run the new voxcommando.exe as admin

4. push the edit-button in VC

5. in the upper left side you have an Disk-Icon, push it, and a new voicecommand.xml file was createt in your new folder with VC084

6. restart VC084, push edit-button, and push on the upper right the open-butten (open bin.xml), then import your old voicecommand.xml

I hope it's helpful

did you download the one called "VoxCommando0841alphaFix01.zip" that I posted in response to wanilton's bug report?

if you have that version and it is still crashing, can you please click details when it crashes and post the error message text?

Sure. Sorry, but it didn't say it crashed. It says it stopped working and then closes the dialogue after checking for solutions.

the zip file in this post is not a full install.  It is just a few files.  It  is like a "patch" you need to add the files to an existing folder with all the files from 0.833

Did you do that?  The fact that you are getting a file not found error makes me think that maybe you did not...

Once we get over the initial humps I will post a more complete version.

Sorry for any confusion.

Oh, I see! Sorry about that.

I downloaded 0.833 Media Monkey Edition again and extracted to a new folder, and replaced the files with the ones listed in this topic. It starts, but when I open the the command tree and save for the first time (while noting that it creates voicecommands.xml and voicecommands.bak) the application crashes with the following message:

OK, I uploaded another fix #2.  You should now be able to save your command bin.  The problem was probably that it was trying to save to the export folder, which didn't exist.  Now it should create the export folder first.

P.S. thanks everyone for helping me catch all my stupid mistakes!

Ok, I don't know if this is intended to happen, but when replacing the files and pressing "Edit", the following message appears:
Code: [Select]
OLD VERSION of voicecommands.xml
0:WARNING - Your command tree was created using an older version.
- Click Edit Tree [Which doesn't exist, just "Edit"].
- click [Typo] "Save" to update your voiicecommands.xml file.

VoxCommando version:         0.841
voicecommands.xml version:        0

Then, when opening the command tree again, this message appears (which I believe is related to my issue in the support forum):
Code: [Select]
Your command tree is an old version.
Your voicecommands file has been backed ut to: voicecommands.bak.
Please save your command tree to update it now.

Just a heads-up :)

I have sort of lost track of the thread.  The only problem that I am aware of right now is that Ole is getting an message about having an old version when he opens the command editor.  This is annoying, but should not effect anything.  I will try to find a cure tomorrow.  Now I have to go to a bar where the Americans will be honouring the Canadian visitors...  That would be me!

Great work! Love the focus command in particular :)

A few issues i noticed:

-When working with the tree editor, if you have a lot of commands (like i do) you have to maximize the tree edit window to be able to view the bottom commands. My screen is not even big (high) enough if i expand a few subtrees. I believe a scroll bar is required.

-When voxcommando is pinned to the taskbar in windows 7, the icon no longer shows in what condition voxcommando is (yellow, green, red)

-Also, the help and forum buttons (links) on the main vox screen don't seem to work.

Feature suggestion:
An option that allows Voxcommando to be started in standby/prefix mode would be nice.

Question:
How do i find what names to use for my programs on the focus mode? Some of the programs i added to the list seem to work (like mediamonkey) while others don't (windows live messenger/xbmc).
Also, the command doesn't seem to work if the program you mention is minimised (well, it does work, only the active window is still minimised).

Keep up the good work!

Painy

I just uploaded 0.842 v1 to the first post in this thread.

I fixed some problems with the edit window (hidden buttons and missing scrollbar)

There was a very stupid bug when loading groups on the right side of the command editor.  If you opened any groups on the right, and then either saved them or dragged them to the left and then saved that, you probably have a problem. Please check the properties of any groups where you have done this.  They will probably have a prefix override of "monkeypants" !   ;D  - oooooops. Sorry about that!  If you don't have a backup of your tree, you might find it easier to edit the xml file by hand to fix this.

I have tried to fix the code that detects old versions of command tree files.  Ole: please try the new version to see if it is fixed.

Hi Painy,  I added numbers to your quoted post above...

1- OK, fixed the command editor in0.842, you should have the scrollbar back.  Thanks for brining this up.  Something happened when I was editing the form to add the "bin"...

2- I'm not sure about the icon state when it's small in windows 7, but I prefer the taskbar buttons in mode "combine when taskbar is full" and it works. see the attached image.

3 - works for me, it is supposed to use default web browser - I'll investigate more...

4- see this for starting in standby: http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=53.0

5- for focus names, I need to work on this a bit more...  stay tuned.

James, thanks for the new version !   :yay
I will try it.

Now i have to figure out, how to merge the new "VoxCommando0842 v1" with the XBMC-Edition "VoxCommandoXBMC 0_825 EN".
I'm not sure, what old files and/or folders are really needed.

Note for people, having the following error on start:

"Error accessing the default audio input device..."

To get it to work, it is important to use the "VoxCommando0833MM" version as a basis. (as James stated on Page 2.)

If you use "VoxCommando0821" or "VoxCommandoXBMC 0_825 EN" as a basis, it doesn't work.
When starting "VoxCommando.exe", you get the following error:

"Error acessing the default audio imput device..."

Maybe this is helpful somehow.

Hey Flux,

I have not found that to be the case here.  I just downloaded the "VoxCommandoXBMC 0_825 EN" file from the dummies post and unzipped to a fresh folder.  Then I extracted ALL the files from the new 0.842 zip into the same directory.  It runs fine.  Anyway, the only reason to get  the error "Error acessing the default audio imput device..." that I can think of, is from just that... an error accessing the audio device!  Please try again. ( I did not try with version 0821 since I am not exactly sure which post you mean... )

I plan to release new packages for mediaMonkey and XBMC tomorrow with the new version, but I also want to add some new commands, so I won't upload anything tonight.

i did a test on two different systems with different intel-chipsets and different microphones (1x USB, 1x Mic-In) all on WIN7-x64 Home/Business Editions.

I did exactly what you've described to check it again.
I still get the same error if i do so, when i start VoxCommando:

When i use the "VoxCommando0833MM" version as a basis for the new 0.842_v1, all is fine.    :bonk

Nice to hear, that you plan to release a new package for XBMC tomorrow with the new version !  So i will wait for that.

Greetings, FLuX0r.

Please try the attached, unmodified, and let me know if it works.

I still need to go over the commands and make sure they all work, and maybe add some more, but I am concerned about the issue you are having because I don't know what it could be.

The "VoxCommandoXBMC 0_842 EN" works fine for me.  :)

I haven't testet all phrases, but it basically works.
The new popup-information is nice, when you hover over a checkbox. I would like to see this for other options too.

Maybe you can give a short description to the new options here in the forum, like for example the "override default language"-option.

OK.  I'm glad it works.  I still don't know why you were having problems.  I need more tooltips and more documentation.  This I know!  VoxCommando is a monster that always needs more feeding.

The language options on the option page, like the tooltip says, lets you use another language.  By default, windows requires you to use speech recognition in the same language that windows is using for displaying menus etc.  If you try to change the default speech language, without changing the windows display language, speech recognition will stop working.

By default VC will use whatever speech language you have set as the default in the Windows speech control panel.  On the options page, the "Override default language" dropdown will show only languages that you have installed on your system.  If you have windows ultimate, you can download more language packs from windows update, but only certain languages include speech recognition.  With other versions of windows this may still be possible but I have no first hand experience with it.

The idea is that you can run windows in any language that you want, and use Vox's speech recognition using another language.  This does not change the actual phrases, but it changes the way you are expected to pronounce words, and it also affects the dictionary used when you do payload dictation.  For many people the best solution will be to run windows in their native language, but to run VoxCommando in English.  This is because so much of our media, movies, music etc uses English titles.

Eventually, I also hope to provide a separate option where you can select the interface language used by controls in VC so that all your buttons etc can be displayed in your native tongue, regardless of what language windows is using, and regardless of what langage VC is using for speech.

Hi James,

thanks for the detailed description on the "override default language"-option.
It seems to be a very interesting option for people (like me), who do not have english as their windows language, but want to speak english in order to improve their speech recognition in VoxCommando with english phrases and english media.
It's very nice of you, that you address this issue. 8)

.
You are right, if you have Windows 7 Ultimate, the language packs are shown under "optional updates".
If you have Windows 7 Home Premium, they are missing in Windows updates under "optional updates". Maybe you can download them separately from the Microsoft Homepage.

Currently the builtin windows speech recognition is available in the following languages:
English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (Traditional).

Greetings, FLuX0r.

I aim to please.  VC is all about customization, so being able to do things in your own language is all part of that (when possible).  Note that even if you run VC in English mode, you can still issue commands in your native tongue by choosing your phrases carefully.  In some cases it may help to spell the phrase phonetically.  Think how you would have to spell a word to get an American to pronounce it the way you do.

For example.

french:     phrase to use when running in english:
haute      oat
5            sank
droite      do what (I havent tried this but you get the idea)

It's not perfect but it may help.

Thanks for adding Genre's to the GenXML feature!

I had to tweak the command a little tho, its disabled by default and it points to xbmcArtists.xml instead of xbmcGenres.xml. Also the command send to XBMC uses Artist instead of Genre in the query. I made these changes manually and its working perfectly!

I noticed that 'Show OSD' is twice in the list for simple XBMC commands.

Hi Abom,

Which command?  Which version?  You have to spoon-feed me information because I am having trouble keeping track of all the versions and conversations etc.
 :bonk

Part of the problem is that even if we know we are using a certain version of the voxcommando.exe we could be using any configuration defined by the voicecommands.xml.

If there is a problem with the latest package I put together for xbmc 0.844 english, I want to know before I post it on the main download page.  I actually think that Wanilton probably has the most up to date and comprehensive config xml for xbmc, so I think I need to look at what he has that I am missing, and translate it back to english!

thanks

Woirks fine for me .....

The Vox single command now works
I can now have vox beep when it enters On mode without commands happening because of the beep

True and false works and these commands were worth you putting them in and me setting them up  (AutoDJ and Shuffle).

GenXML script command doesn't seem to have any use I an think of  ...... If it would GenXML on the current MM3 filter is would be very useful.

Hi James,

is it possible to install a command for the profile change in VC, as in Amuletremote?
Change "language profile" to a user (like "Kalle", and so on). On Amuletremote is a button, that can do this. (VB-script?)
That would be good for those who do not have an Amuletremote.

Of course this has nothing to do with the actual remote, just the software.

you will probably also need to restart VoxCommando.
Title: Re: Version 0.84
Post by: jitterjames on November 19, 2010, 05:57:32 PM
Hi Kalle,

what steps does the macro take to actually perform the change of profile?

are you running a bunch of keyboard and or mouse emulation commands?  Are you opening the options using some kind of rundll command or emulating clicking on the start menu etc.

once you have changed profiles, how can you check that it is using the correct one?  I am trying to figure out how to test this once I figure out how to make the switch.  I thought I could add some words to the dictation dictionary, but it seems that adding a word in one profile adds the word to all profiles... which is odd, but typical of Microsoft.

I need to be able to test this reliably because I am pretty sure that I am going to have to unload and reload most of voxCommando after the switch.  In the process of trying to find the fastest way to do this I am going to need to be able to test that it is changing profiles properly.

Hi James,

i create a macro with this Sofware (http://www.winautomation.com/) it is a 30day-trial. It has many functions to create many things to automate Windows (to complicatet for me) but i'll try the macrorecorder for mouse and keyboard emulating. With these programm is it easy to create a exe-file to start with launch-command in VC. I have not tested the speechprofil in VC, only the macro (it works). I do not have to restart Windows 7, there is a button "apply".

It's just an idea, as long as I do not have the Amulet remote control or for people they can not afford or want.

I need the profile's for my wife and daughter in order to use the HTPC. They kill me otherwise  :bonk
I don't know what amuletsoftware do to change the profil, but in Video change this with the button on the remote or by a speechcommand.

James i hope you understand my bad english. (half of google, and half of my school english)

Greetings Kalle

Between google and your school English you are doing very well!

OK, it sounds like mouse and keyboard emulation.  I think I can provide something better within VoxCommando

When I said, "restart" I meant restart VoxCommando, not restart windows.

Even if you have an amulet remote, the only way to use it to change profiles is to use their software which only runs in Windows Media Center.

Do you have any idea how I can test if the profile is changing properly?

Yes i have, when any other person as you talk with VC with your Windows Speechprofil, VC does not understands this correctly.
For an example: with my speechprofil ("Kalle", with my speechtraining), when i say it in VC "what time is it" the command works fine (92%). If my wife says in VC "what time is it" with my speechprofil VC understand this (15-25%).
When I create a new speechprofil for my wife in Windows, and my wife trained this by windows speech recognition, VC works fine for my wife, but not for me.
Try it once and you'll see it  8)

Perhaps there is another way. The Windows Speech Recognition can be trained on and on, I'll just continue this with my wife in my profile, it might work. I think she thinks I'm already crazy, but it makes a lot of fun!

OK.  I have an idea of how I can test this, but I will need help from my loyal users.  If I upload a list of commands in English.  Would someone be willing to create a recording and send it back to me?  I can then use the recording to train a profile, and then later I can use the recording again to test the profile to make sure that VoxCommando is switching to it properly.

For this to work I will need:

- Someone who can read the english, but who has a pretty strong accent. (could be German, French, Portuguese or whatever)
- Good quality recording (preferably using a headset) in a quiet room
- a wav file.  I prefer if you can record and save directly to wav format to avoid any compression from mp3 or wma formats.
- you should pause for about 3-4 seconds between each command, but it is ok to put them all together in a single .wav file.

If anyone is interested and willing to do this, let me know and I will put together a script for you to read.

Thanks   :hugs

is it possible to install a command for the profile change in VC, as in Amuletremote?
Change "language profile" to a user (like "Kalle", and so on). On Amuletremote is a button, that can do this. (VB-script?)
That would be good for those who do not have an Amuletremote.

I need a tester!  You need to enter the payload list to match the profiles on your system.
Note that VC will need to do almost a full restart.  It has to dump all the commands and reload them in order for the new profile to work.  I think this is stupid but it seems to be what Microsoft requires.  I don't know why...

here is an update.  I have added a whole bunch of commands for controlling the master volume.

the partialmute commands are special.  This is what I am using with the amulet controller.

Partialmute sets the volume to a percentage of the normal volume.
If you call it when partial mute is already active, nothing will happen.
If you adjust volume while partial mute is active it will deal with it intelligently.

example, starting with volume of 80

1: we call partial mute with parameter of 50
**  result:  The "restore volume" is stored in memory as 80.  The actual volume is set to 50% of 80 = 40
2: we call adjust volume +10
**  now the restore volume is set to 80+10 = 90, but because we are still muted the actual volume gets set to 45 (50% of the restore volume)
3: we call partial Unmute   (result: volume is set to the restore volume of 90)

I also added new mouse commands.
- LeftButtonDown
- LeftButtonUp

these allow us to emulate click and drag.

And I added AlbumArtists to MediaMonkey GenXML

I hope it works for you...  ;D

I need to work on this a bit more, but basically it allows you turn auto-learning on and off.  In the old VC learning is on all the time.  You may not always want it to learn though.  Once you have got it working the way you like, recognizing your accent, you probably want to turn learning off.  Especially if you have other people using it.  You don't want to "pollute" your profile.

I intent to make it so that it remembers the last setting that you used though... instead of always being off when you start VC.

I am also thinking about creating a training mode that steps you through a series of typical commands, one at a time, while in learning mode.  this would be a good way to start creating training data for people if it doesn't recognize them very well at the beginning and also a way for new users to learn some of the pre-configured commands.

I'm just glad it was an easy fix.  I'm starting to get frustrated with things that don't work, that are seemingly beyond my control.

It is starting to look like there is a limit to the number of songs that we can load... Somewhere between 10 and 20 thousand...

i think i found a bug,

http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/176/34037845.png

i clicked save & close, restarted twice, via the restart button and by closing the program.

but VC still makes that sound when i put it in Stand by mode or another mode...

weird. I can't reproduce it.  I don't even need to restart.

If you really want to get rid of the sound I guess you can try deleting the wav file.

I'm sorry, that makes absolutely no sense to me at all.  I have no idea what could possibly be going on.  Try rebooting.

When you reopen the options page, are the text fields still blank?

maybe you have two copies of VC running at once

no i'm running one instance of VC, i changed the path of the .wav fields to a diffrent sound, but it still makes the same sound..
i have tested this with version 0.853, 0.845, 0.842 and 0.833
all of them giving the same result for me.

i also noticed that when i launch VC (or i set it in green mode) the volume turns up a little, when i set it in OFF mode (red mode) my volume turns down a little.
is this normal?, tested on the following versions: 0.853, 0.845, 0.842 and 0.833

edit:  am i the only one with this problem?

Hi Diabl0570,

I tried it with my version 0833, 0845, 0851 and 0853 and have no problems that can replace the sound. If you deleted the sound files or move them, you should no longer heard.
Did I understand correctly that you hear the sounds anyway? Delete the complete VC-Folder, and reinstall Vers.0853, don't forget to save any changes in VC.
I have some questions:

1.- all soundsettings in Windows 7 or Vista works correctly (play music, record wav-files from mic)
2.- what other applications run in backround (Firewall, Zonealarm, ...)
3.- VC is running as Admin?

Greetings Kalle

Diabl0,  It sounds like you have found a way to play a wav file that does not exist.  If you can figure out how it is done and extend the idea to mkv files of the latest movies you could be rich! ;)

Maybe the next version will fix the problem for you...

oke today i tried it again with the new version,

here is some more info:

i'm running VC as admin,
indeed deleted all .wavs in the VC folder,
even pointed it to a new .wav file
i even turned the volume of VC down in the windows audio mixer.

still gives the same result: that same "dong" sound

i noticed something:
i hear 2 sounds, VC gives an another sound than i am hearing.....
i deleted the .wav form the option field in VC and now The default VC sound is gone...

so conclusion:
its my computer configuration that causes the problem not VC!

i will look in to it maybe later, otherwise i reinstall my computer

Thanks every one for helping me

does it happen when you change modes different ways?

we can turn voxCommando on and off with voice commands, or by using tellvox, or eventghost, or by using mouse or keyboard.  Does it happen in every case or just some?

Hi Diabl0570,

disable in the Windows Sound settings, the sound scheme, maybe it helps. The dong could be sounded from Windows and not on VC, try it.
