Title: Problem running Ivona with VC
Post by: sirs2k on September 30, 2014, 01:27:55 AM
Hey guys,

Just reformatted my pc and installed VC then Ivona voice
The voice is working fine within windows speech options but when I test it in VS 1 this message pops up. All other windows voices work fine

Thank you

Did you try to Reboot?

What version of VoxCommando are you using?

Is this a "free" voice?

Are you able to use this voice with any other programs?

What is the version number of the voice?

What is your OS?

I'm using VC 1, definitely tried reboot.

It's not the free voice, although the free used to work without a problem anyway. Even this same version paid voice used to work before the refresh.
There are no other programs I need this for so can't try it on anything but windows like I mentioned.

Using windows 8.1

Everything is the same, nothing has changed since before formatting

Version 1 is not really a version number. Do you mean that you're using Final version 1.1.9.1 ?

Sorry, yes latest of version 1 which is 1.1.9.1

It's a mystery. Any time I have had problems with TTS it would happen consistently with a particular voice.

If you OS is 64 bit (you did not specify)  then it is possible this voice only works in 64 bit mode. Obviously this should not be the case but I think TTS voices may come with different DLLs for 32 and 64 bit. You also did not specify if you were still using the same OS as before.

Here are some things you can try.

Reinstall your voices
A fresh install of VoxCommando in a new folder
VoxCommando version 2
Disable UAC
Run VC as administrator.

Thanks James,

Yes I'm running x64, UAC is disabled and I've just tried as admin. Still same problem.

Anyhow I haven't tried a VC install. This is what I've done:
before formatting I copied the entire VC folder and now I'm just running it off the backup folder without installing it on the system and it's been running fine without apart from this hiccup.

I do have a "back up current configuration" but I don't know how I would restore it as there's no option for that
I also don't think the back up will be as good as it will not restore the .wav "learning" files that's taken time to get accurate.

Advice?

I advise you to follow the advice I gave you in my previous post.

I'm not sure what wav learning files you are referring to.

what version of Ivona are you running before/after refresh?  where you running 8.1 before the refresh?  32 bit or 64 bit?  You may need to uninstall and reinstall ivona.

You should also check that you have the latest version of the TTS voice and possibly seek support from Ivona (or from whoever sold you the TTS voice) since there appears to be a problem with it.

Another thing you can try is to set the voice, but don't click test

Save and Close.

Then restart VC and try using it normally.  Maybe the TTS voice will work.  Some voices are less stable when being created/destroyed/changed.

Also, make sure you have ivona set as default in windows itself.  And make sure you have all the windows updates.

It doesn't hurt to try but this should not make any difference.
