I dont really use X10 anymore. However I have a bunch of X10 equipment lying around unused. I was wondering if anyone had any success using the X10 plugin? I would try, however I do not know how to use the plugin and get my X10 device detected by the program.

Hi Dominique and welcome to VC forum. Maybe this will help you to get started with X10 stuff ;)

I did see that thank you. However it does not go into detail about how to get the plugin to detect the devices. I saw that you need a SDK for ActiveHome however, didnt ActiveHome go under?
I guess i should have elaborated more on what I want to accomplish. I want to use two X10 IPCameras that will show up on XBMC when motion is detected.

This link might be more useful: http://voxcommando.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=X10
There is a link on that page that will allow you to download the SDK from our server. http://voxcommando.com/files/ahsdk_install.exe
There is no way to "detect devices" with X10. It is a one way protocol. Very basic. Devices do not respond or otherwise report their status. The activehome SDK and our simple plugin allow you to send poweline commands via a USB device attached to your computer. Events can also be generated if you have an X10 RF remote.
This plugin does not offer any functionality for X10 cameras. I am not familiar with X10 cameras, but if they are really IP cameras then maybe there is some other way to interact with them, via HTTP (scrape) or TCP actions. I am able to control my Trendnet IP camera using only scrape actions.

I use X10 Alarm system, light, appliance and heating control all working with Voxcommando. I use EventGhost to control all devices. Communication between VC and EG is via two way network broadcast. I also have IP cameras on a separate system, key here is to have actions based on motion, whereas when the Camera software recognises movement it runs a program, in this case a Command that simply runs an EG event to broadcast to Voxcommando to do something, along with a script to display the camera in XBMC (see link below). So front door motion detection I get audible notification and within XBMC I get the camera image pop up.
For the Camera overlay here is a great tutorial:-

X10 is an older technology, however devices/modules are manufactured and can be purchased however there are new home automation technologies that have moved forward for example ZWave.
I have a demo on my setup, however it have moved on a lot and I need to update it but your get the idea:-
