When I change the voice from anna to Ivona "brian"I get the following error
error loading xml file: resources/availablecommands.xml
I use the trial version of speech2go. I noticed that the VC directory location changes after changing the voice. I reinstalled VC together in the same folder as the voice package but still get the same issue. I looked on the forum but couldn't find the answer to this question.
I re-started VC, copied xml to the new directory, not in the program files folder of course but all doesn't seem to work.
The result is that I can't use the core actions and option settings isn't saved after full restart

Copied entire resource folder to new location. that solved the problem. What I don't understand that it changed the folder location after setting new voice

This all sounds like nonsense to me. I really don't understand what you are talking about.
I can't imagine why changing a voice would move files from another program to a new location. You have not specified which actual folders you have installed anything into though so maybe that would help to clarify what is happening.
Also when you say "when I change the voice from anna to Ivona brian" what do you mean by that? How are you changing it?
Why would you install VoxCommando in the same folder as the voice package?
Also, isn't the voice package (whatever this means) installed in program files?

I am having a similar problem.
When I select an Ivona voice and click on "Edit" to edit commands I get the same error.
error loading xml file: resources/availablecommands.xml
I checked and AvailableCommands.xml is still in the Resources folder. (nothing is moved)
I have VC 2.2.2.6 installed to C:\Vox\Setup-1\
Running Windows 7 Pro 64
The Ivona voice works, I just cannot edit commands.
If I don't use an Ivona voice every thing works fine.

How are you selecting the Ivona voice?
What type of voices are they? Trial, purchased, or "other"?
This still makes no sense to me. I can't begin to imagine what that voice could be doing that is interfering with the access of a file in VoxCommando's resource folder.
I've used Ivona voices on many different setups with VoxCommando and never seen anything like this.
Some things you can try just for giggles.
1 Put VoxCommando into another folder. Try a folder on your desktop.
2 Run VoxCommando as admin.
3 Disable your antivirus.

I agree with you James make no sense to me ether.
Changing Microsofts default voice has no effect.
At the top of VC I select "Plugins" then "TTS" and pick one of the trail voices there.
All my Ivona voices are list as OEM this might be the probelm??
The Ivona voices I have were gotten from http://harposoftware.com/en/
Tried running VC as admin, has no effect.
No AV other then Microsoft deffender.
Thx,
Tommy

Where is the best place to get Ivona voices?
-
Just tried installing VC to the desktop still same error
-
Just bought the Ivona voice Brain from nextup.com
will see if that fixes the problem
-
Well that fixed the problem.
Bought the voice from nextup.com and no more problem.
Thanks,
Tommy

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know.
In the past I used trial voices but got them directly from Ivona and they did not exhibit this odd behavior, so it might be safer to avoid Harpo altogether but I really don't know.
