Title: Version 0.964
Post by: jitterjames on September 13, 2012, 09:49:31 PM
This version supports the beta of VoxWav 2.0.

At the moment VoxWav 2.0 is available only on demand to VoxWav Pro users.  Let me know if you want to test it.

What's with the extremely slow speeds today on this site? I'm barely getting 10 kb/s trying to download this. Couldn't download after 3 tries.  ???
Will keep at it.

Well, here they are:

My First test results on the Galaxy S2:

Worked 8 out of 10 times. Twice it gave an error popup saying, "An unexpected exception occured when transfering the audio data to VoxCommando   null"
Also, don't know if it was my imagination, but the "Start recording" button felt a bit sluggish. Earlier, it used to get "pressed" the instant I touched it. Now there is a perceptible delay (over 0.5 sec, perhaps) before it says "recording".

It is quite fast, like you said, when it works.

Let me know if you need any more information to fix these issues.

Will test on the Tab 10.1 and report soon.

Curious.  Let me know about the tablet.

I wonder what kind of WIFI setup / speed you have?  When you finish speaking does VC respond quickly?  This part in particular should be significantly faster, especially for longer commands.

You could also try ignoring the "visual on" and just start speaking immediately and let me know if it still works reliably.  I'm going to have some work to do to figure out the null error  :-\

which two times?  First two?  Or just randomly.  See if you can detect any kind of pattern please.

Tested an equal amount of time on the Tab.
No issues so far, except, maybe that button delay I was talking about.
The delay on the Tab doesn't seem to be as pronounced as on the S2, I think.

>> I wonder what kind of WIFI setup / speed you have?
WiFi is from a Cisco Linksys E4200  N-Router.

>> When you finish speaking does VC respond quickly?
Yes, it ddoes respond quickly

>>  This part in particular should be significantly faster, especially for longer commands.
Yes, it is indeed faster as I said earlier.

>> You could also try ignoring the "visual on" and just start speaking immediately and let me know if it still works reliably.
Will try that now.

The first 2 commands actually worked. It failed the first time on the 3rd command. Then again after a few successful commands.

Will watch for any pattern and report.

>> >> You could also try ignoring the "visual on" and just start speaking immediately and let me know if it still works reliably.

Did that. It seems to work reliably most of the time, even if I start speaking commands ignoring the visual ON. I'm sorry about the uncertainty there - I am not really 100% sure of this since on a couple of occasions, for a couple of short commands, I thought it didn't recognize it because I started too early.

Also, I do not see a pattern to the null exception. It is seemingly random.

Another thing I noticed is that I can do a quick tap on the "Press and hold to speak" button and make it stick in the "ON" position. It remains in that state till I touch the button again. It gave the null error when it came out of this induced "ON" state on a couple of occasions. Again, I am unable to see a pattern here.

Note: I never did the "tap" test on the previous samba versions!

EDIT: Tested a bit more on the Tab, specifically the "tap" test. I can make the button stick here too, but try as I may, I couldn't reproduce the null exception on it even once.

All of the above on the S2 of course. Will try the same on the Tab.

OK.  Thanks for the feedback so far.  Let me try to get a new test out to you today before you get too carried away testing this one.

How long do I  have, if I want to get feedback from you today?

It is 9:50 pm IST now. Given that tomorrow is a weekend (yay  ;D), I can be up till 2:00 am, that means I can provide feedback for another 4 hours.

So far I have not had any issues, its fast, very fast. But I have not been able to fully test it because I am about to flash my Galaxy S I900M back to stock. I will provide more feedback once I'm up and running again.

James,
For me only works with the first command. When i try to send the second command the app crash, but the first command its very fast, no delay at all.
But i dont know if is a impression, but with the few commands i get a low accuracity, like 79%.
Thanks for all your work James.
Clayton.

Great,
I try to install the app again and make several changes in the settings to see if one of them was causing the crash, but dont work.

The voxwav its so nice in your hands James!
Works very nice for me too, but if i am listenning music i cant use it, because that i use the buttons to send a pause command first.
Watching movies i have no problem.
Thanks again.

James you did it again, VC plus VW.  ;D

I have been holding out on upgrading my Galaxy S, so that I can trade it in for the Note2. VW is the first thing that gets installed.

Hi Clayton,
you can use a ducking command for voxwav. This example command do follow: softmute xbmc and mediamonkey if you start recording VoxWav (tilt or button press) and unmute it after speaking your command.

I hope it helps  ;)

Everyone please update VC to 0.965 and VW pro to 2.1.

If you installed the VoxWav pro beta that I emailed you, please uninstall it so that you can get the latest version (2.1) from the Google Play store.
