Title: How do you downgrade?
Post by: Voxy on December 29, 2016, 04:02:52 PM
Hi!

I´ve been getting some problems with explorer.exe hanging and reporting Voxcommando under hanginfo.
I want to try and see if it has something to do with updating VC to v2.229.
How do I downgrade to v2.226?

Grateful for help!

Assuming you have a copy of the version in question you can downgrade the same way you would upgrade.

* Close VC
* Make a copy of the folder as a backup (optional)
* Run the installer in the folder you want to upgrade or downgrade.

But my guess if that if your issue is actually related to VoxCommando (which it probably isn't) then it's not going to be version specific.  It will be because of some other issue with your system that happens to conflict with VC (all versions) or it has something to do with your VC configuration.

Ok, thanks!

The installer says "cannot be undone" so I thought there were more to it for downgrading.
I´m back on v2.226 and the future will tell if the downgrade helped.

Here is all of what the installer says about that:

Quote
Upgrading to a newer version:
If you apply this installation on top of an existing VoxCommando folder it will overwrite certain files and cannot be undone. Your options and configuration files will normally be left as they are, however we recommend that you make a backup copy of your VoxCommando folder before upgrading in case anything goes wrong.

So all it is really saying is that a backup is recommended.  This should really be an obvious precaution to take any time you try to upgrade or downgrade anything.
