Hi all.. first of all... amazing software. Kudos..
Ok. So im starting a HA project that i will replicate in different houses but before i do that i need to make sure its going to work around voice commands.
I currently have a Vera Edge.. some smart relays.. and dimmers intalled around the house and vera does the job just fine. I decided to evaluate VC and so far its great.. i can control all the lights by voice with tge Vera plugin.
Now i got to the next step.. Audio and Video. I would like a solution that can control my IR devices such as TV, receiver, android box etc from vera... so i can if course control it with VC as well.
Can someone give me some pointers on what hw can i get that will work with both vera and VC.
Thanks

Hi dxxpublic, yes there are a lot of control devices available to do this.
For example:
GlobalCache products http://www.globalcache.com
USBuirt http://usbuirt.com
and some DIY projects and last but not least our own IR/RF Blaster which will be available at the begin of the next year ;)

UUIRT works with VoxCommando but I dont think it works with Vera, so to use it with Vera would require a PC to be on and running VoxCommando, or EventGhost.

I think im going the way of Global Cache WF2IR iTach Wi-Fi to IR. Im a bit worried since i was reading on the Vera forums that the plugin iTachWifi is not working for some people.

Just to make sure, is the itach Wifi to IR will work fine with VC? To control all my IR devices via voice

Yes, it works perfect with VC.

And per the youtube description for the "Coming Home from Work" video, the iTach is being used here to control the fan, specifically. (James has a few different IR controllers going on here, some of which are now defunct.)

Almost all. There may be certain IR devices whose codes cannot be learned by the itach but the vast majority of mainstream devices can be controlled.

Another option, but more so a works with vera solution, is the harmony home hubs. Not sure how will they would work with the android boxes (my hubs do see the original firetv). It is easy enough to tie vc to a vera scene once setup.
