In April of 2016 Philips made changes to the Hue bridge software, which made it impossible for new Hue users to connect to the Hue bridge using the VoxCommando Hue plugin. The Hue plugin for VC has been updated to address the problem. If you have a new Philips Hue hub but are still using an older version of VoxCommando, you'll need to upgrade to VC version 2.2.2.2 or later.

  • Start by following the general steps for Installation.
  • During installation you will be asked to choose a standard configuration. At this point choose "Hue.zip".
  • Once installed you will need to open the Hue plugin settings under "Plugins" in the main menu, and:
    • Click "Connect" to connect to your bridge. Follow the directions that appear. Once successfully connected:
    • Generate the payloadXML files for your Hue lights, since these will be specific to your particular Philips Hue setup.

You can also generate the payload XML via Main Menu > GenXML > Hue.

To see a list of the commands available in the Philips Hue preset configuration, click on Help > Build Voice Menu in VoxCommando's main menu.

As always, you can modify these commands to suit your own phrasing preferences and build your own commands from scratch as well.
