Skype plug in Audio commands / SR input device
« on: August 26, 2014, 05:39:47 PM »
Skype is a wonderful all one solution for communicating with VC from outside home by messaging and by calling... however tying VC to Skype in terms of Audio input/output would mean they are not accessible locally (with mic) ...

Skype can change the audio devices through its API (http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=1719.0;topicseen) ...
VC support switching TTS output device but not SR input (unless it is tied to windows default then modifying windows default which screws many other progs)...

if these 2 features added to the plug in and VC many interesting scenarios can be achieved. ex:

if one of house hold members call, VC will pickup the call ... do Audio devices adjustment to Skype and SR/TTS  connecting VC-Skype .. one can talk with VC ...asking to lock the door, change the thermostat and all the great stuff that we are doing with VC... without disturbing the person using the same pc to watch XBMC ... if a friend call VC will alert people about the incoming call and accept it on confirmation to pick the call ... or even rout the call to a third program to record a message

hell, one can even script my VC calling your VC and having a conversation !!!!

That's not really correct.  VoxCommando does allow you to switch speech input without changing the default audio recording device. Please see: http://voxcommando.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Actions#SetSpeechInput

But I will still add the Skype audio input actions in the next release.

My oh my ... I was looking for that action in TTS which (now after I knew) it makes it so illogical ... my mistake, I am still on the very beginning of the path to learn the ways of the Force

that will be awesome ... again   :clap :clap ::wiggle ::wiggle ::bow ::bow

if you ever get carried away with the new version  ::) ::) ::) ::)

GET VIDEO_IN
The GET VIDEO_IN command retrieves the name of the video device to use for a call. If no value is returned, Skype sets
the default value.
Syntax
-> GET VIDE0_IN
<- VIDEO_IN [<devicename>]
Note
If no devicename is returned, Skype sets a default value with the following command:
-> SET VIDEO_IN <devicename>
SET VIDEO_IN
This command enables you to change webcam settings.
Syntax:
-> SET VIDE0_IN [<device_name>]
<- VIDEO_IN [<device_name>]
If the parameter is empty, webcam is set to “Default video device”.
If device passed in parameter cannot be found, following error is reported:
 ERROR 50 cannot set device
GET CALL VIDEO_STATUS
To check if a Skype client is video-enabled:
Syntax
-> GET CALL 5921 VIDEO_STATUS
Response
Skype responds with the video status for the active call, for example:
<- CALL 5921 VIDEO_STATUS VIDEO_NONE
Parameters
VIDEO_NONE
VIDEO_SEND_ENABLED
VIDEO_RECV_ENABLED
VIDEO_BOTH_ENABLED
Version
Protocol 5
ALTER CALL VIDEO_SEND
Used to start or stop sending video during a call.
